Le Forconate

Le forconate

The ‘Le Forconate’ farm is located in a picturesque and special area, in the heart of Tuscany, the cradle of Chianti, near the golden hills of the Val d’Orcia, a World Heritage cultural site (UNESCO).
It was founded in 2008 when the Blackbeard family decided to cultivate their passion and love for winemaking. They wanted to create something special and closely connected to the local territory and traditions, working together with the new generation to embrace a common vision.
The initial extension of the vineyards, 7.5 hectares, then embraced a total of 28.50, including among the original varieties (Sangiovese and Merlot) other vines such as Sagrantino, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Vermentino.

Recently, the winery has invested in the expansion of the vinification, fermentation and maturation facilities with the desire to keep up with the times and make use of the most modern technologies in order to best preserve the original and characteristic aromas of the grapes. The soil expresses and embodies the historicity of the place and is mainly composed of Pliocene clays. Its hardness requires great effort for the various processing phases, but it delineates the various expressions of the characteristic grape varieties located in different places.
The winery nestled between olive groves and vineyards, in the beautiful setting of the Tuscan hills, is also open for wine tastings in the tasting room with its large central fireplace.
